In almost all parts of the world, including London, Paris, New York, Toronto, Istanbul, and Dubai, glamor has become a must element of television commercials.
Most recently, our TV ads have started exposing the private body parts of females in one way or the other. It seems that they are not promoting a product but a lady’s figure.
In our Islamic country, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) is responsible for cutting down such odd content from television ads. Unfortunately, no measures are being taken, so the brand owners happily make and broadcast commercials with stupid content.
In recent months, PEMRA received numerous complaints against the television channels that promote cheapness and vulgarity. But it seems that the management is not taking such things down, or they may be busy in other works.
In whatsoever way, such things are destroying the reputation of Muslims in the eyes of the world. Already every non-Muslims of Paris, New York, Dubai, Toronto, London, Istanbul and other parts of the world consider us terrorist.
With the depiction of such content, they will definitely get an idea that Muslims have forgotten their religious and moral values and run after money.
PEMRA said in a recent press conference that it had received various complaints against advertisements and television channels as they create and promote offensive and distasteful content.
But when will it take some measures; there is no word to this. However, the PEMRA representatives say that they will soon take action against the networks and advertisers who are into such idiotic things.
Strict measures need to be taken against the broadcasters who continue airing cheap commercials. PEMRA can impose fines on them so that they amend their ways and ensure the provision of quality content. The viewers of Paris, Dubai, Toronto, London, Istanbul, and New York should boycott such things at their end so the commercials get automatically banned by the television channels.
